What is babyworld?

Babyworld is an app that can be used on iPhone, iPad, any smartphone (using android or windows) and for as far as the features allow it, on your laptop/pc.


The app combines: 
- an info database, 
- age-adaptable toys, 
- cry translation, 
- baby shopping with discounts, 
- babyphone options, 
- searching and booking of local baby related activities/nannies/babysitters/au pairs
- Unicef donation option

Age adaptable toys: simple games your baby can play on your iphone/ipad/smartphone (from now on I’ll use just: iphone) or you can play together with your baby. These include simple games for when the baby is just getting to use his hands, to discovery games were he can explore a picture by touching, to simple counting and memory games.


 Info database: A database were the leading works in baby and nurturing literature can be consulted in a fast and easy way, providing answers and solutions in a simple and organized way: first, basic knowledge is provided in key-points, by tapping, users can get in-depth knowledge about the subject, and  in this way getting to the desired details fast and easy.  (preventing time-consuming reading and searching). Updates are provided by the Babyworld team to keep in touch with new research or advice, as well as test results for baby products from independent magazines. Feature also allows users to go directly from reading about a (new) tested product to the shopping option to buy it.


Baby shopping: intelligent system allows shopping for baby products by connecting to the server of a local home-delivering store (such as the ‘albert’ in big cities in the Netherlands), filtering their baby products to order. Payment can be done in the regular fashion if technically possible and wanted, alternatively, a credit can be started at Babyworld, allowing for direct order without additional effort with creditcard number or bank safety device for iDeal (pay to Babyworld – buy product – Babyworld pays supplier). Via partnerships with P&G and the delivering stores, discounts can be earned by ordering via Babyworld, also, getting Babyworld credit allows for occasional extra discounts.


 Cry translation: translates the crying of a baby to indicate what it is in need of (diaper change, hungry, needs to burp, tired). Big advantage: instead of having to buy a device to translate the crying, Babyworld works with the microphone on your iPhone and gives you the same tool, but saving you a lot of money. Is also updated when improvements can be made.


Babyphone options: When you’re out visiting friends and you need a babyphone, the Babyworld app provides a solution. Activating this feature, the iphone makes an automatic call to a designated number if the baby starts crying. One could use a second phone or the phone of the friend he/she is visiting, to be the other end of the babyphone. Using this, the baby can be left in a room to sleep while mom/dad enjoys the company of friends in the living room. 


Unicef donation: Babyworld is about making life better and easier for all moms and children. By providing an app that has a lot to offer for little money, we make a good effort, but we’d be glad to do more. If moms donate to unicef via the option in Babyworld, the Babyworld company adds premiums if certain milestone amounts are reached. This conveys company values as well as a certain company role, and the premiums combined with having (a) child(ren) of their own inspires moms/dads to donate and make the world a better place for children and babies.


Local baby activities: search for baby related activities in the area (such as baby swimming, baby gymnastics, nurture courses) and (if their interface allows for it), book these activities via Babyworld. It is also possible to book babysitters or au pairs via Babyworld if there are organizations in the area that allow for online booking. Discounts may be provided but this is yet uncertain as these services are usually provided by small, independent organizations, so the possibility to provide discounts will need to be investigated.
